With support from their English teacher, Mrs Ahmed, the students delivered outstanding performances. Amelia O\u2019Neill (Team A) captivated the audience with her speech, <em>\u201cSuperheroes are real and all around us,\u201d<\/em> while Simra Naslin (Team B) tackled the Martin Luther King Jr. quote, <em>\u201cInjustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Their teammates\u2014Maryam Sirajudin and Kate Wilson (Team A), and Isabelle Culf and Hameedah Lawal (Team B)\u2014played key roles as chairpersons and questioners alongside students from other schools. The competition was fiercely contested, and Team A\u2019s efforts were rewarded with a place in the next round.<\/p>\n<p>Miss Talbot, Director of Theatre Studies, Speech, and Drama, praised the students, saying: <em>\u201cTheir hard work and professionalism made them a credit to the school, and Mrs Ahmed and I were very proud of their achievements.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The <em>Mace Debating Competition<\/em>\u2014for Years 11 to 13\u2014took place in Bolton School\u2019s Leverhulme Suite and featured six teams from five schools. Seven Year 11 students participated, including Emily Rostron, who acted as timekeeper for the event.<\/p>\n<p>Bolton School\u2019s A Team\u2014Zainab Jiva, Nikita Dontula, and Anamika Vardhan\u2014proposed the motion, <em>\u201cThis House Believes in the Implementation of the Four Day School Week.\u201d<\/em> They delivered compelling and dynamic arguments, demonstrating their understanding of debate roles. Meanwhile, the B Team\u2014Lily Coupe, Lily Ma, and Sofia Macari\u2014entered as a \u201cswing team,\u201d meaning they were ineligible for the next round.
