Recently the library held an event that celebrated the world of Harry Potter.<\/p>\n

In the library, there are lots of events that take place that you can get involved in and the Harry Potter event is just one example of the amazing experiences on offer. The librarians celebrated Harry Potter\u00a0 for a fortnight. Everyone was invited to a Hogwart\u2019s lesson at 1:00pm in the Turret Library on Tuesday 1st, Tuesday the 8th and Wednesday the 9th of February. This enabled that as many students as possible could attend.<\/p>\n

What did we do?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

In the Harry Potter event, we were sorted into houses, just like the students in the books,\u00a0 by picking a name from a hat. This was lots of fun! Then we got chance to play some Harry Potter themed games.<\/p>\n

Before you play anything though, you have to rummage through the library to find The Book of Monsters.<\/em> Upon finding it,\u00a0 got to go through the rules of the library (at the magical school of witches and wizards). After that, everyone enjoyed\u00a0 the quiz, where you guess different magical journeys through drawing and acting. Then there was a quick question fire round, with each team being asked different questions about transport. Through the event, house points are awarded, and totalled up.\u00a0 It was a really exciting event.<\/p>\n

Scavenger Hunt<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The scavenger hunt was running between 7 and 11 February. The scavenger hunt was yet another thrilling event, in which 9 objects relating to magical transport were hidden around the library, along with a letter. The letters formed a word, or rather, a place, which is found in both Hogwarts and Bolton School of Witches and Wizards. At the end we received a chocolate frog (a Freddo)!<\/p>\n

What do people think about it?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

We interviewed two year 7\u2019s , Aaminah and Iris about their experiences. I asked them about their opinions of the Harry Potter event and this is what they said: \u2018The Harry Potter day was a great event, which I and plenty of others thoroughly enjoyed. I was greatly entertained by the librarians, and thank them greatly for their hard work.\u2019 \u2018I had a great time, and I can\u2019t wait until the librarians hold another event like this!”<\/p>\n

\n\"Gryffindors Gryffindors are known for being courageous, daring, brave, fiercely loyal, intelligent, and kind.
\n\"Hufflepuff Hufflepuff characteristics include a strong sense of justice, loyalty, patience, and a propensity for hard work.
\n\"Slytherin Slytherin are known for being ambitious, cunning, and resourceful.

So, when you get the chance come and\u00a0 join the other library events, because you could end up meeting your favourite author. Also, there are such enjoyable events\u00a0 from which you can both have fun and learn. It is a different sort of way to have fun with your friends, and get to know new people. Everyone is made to feel really welcome. You will have a great time, and you won\u2019t be able to wait until the librarians hold another event like this!<\/p>\n

I would like you to suggest ideas for other book themed days, so we can make it happen.<\/p>\n

Is it worth going?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Harry Potter event is worth going to since you can make new friends there. You can participate in lots of activities and quizzes and see how big of a fan of Harry Potter you are. Even if you aren\u2019t one, you can come along and join in with the experience. You won\u2019t regret it. Other than the Harry Potter event, there are lots of other event for example meeting an author, or joining a book club. This will help your imagination more and help you get creative with your own stories.<\/p>\n
