On Thursday the 21st and Friday the 22nd of April, a fundraiser took place in the classroom B5. It was coordinated by Aleesha Masood in form 8B, and the aim was to raise money for the many Muslim countries in need. A variety of items were up for sale: sweets, popcorn, candy floss, handmade bracelets and crochet items.
The year 8 corridor was swarming with students from all years, eager to make purchases. Within fifteen minutes, most of the stock had vanished, and the crochet items were particularly popular.
After the first day, around £200 had been raised! The second day was just as hectic, and it called for a teacher to help keep the crowd in line. Overall, a whopping amount of £480 was collected and sent straight to Ummah Welfare.

Aleesha was interviewed to get her thoughts on the outcome of the charity.
Q1. “What inspired you to hold this fundraiser?”
A1. Every year my family and I hold a charity event, so this year, I decided to get my friends involved in order to raise money for charity together.
Q2. “Are you proud of what you have achieved?”
A2. I am very proud of what we have achieved! I could never have done it without my friends; it was a group effort and I’m so happy that I could raise money for such an amazing cause with them. Whenever I think about the difference that money could make I feel extremely joyous.
Q3. “Why did you choose your charity to be Ummah Welfare?”
A3. We chose that charity because it was one we all agreed on, and when we first started thinking about doing a charity event, we wanted it to go towards Muslim countries in war.
