What is it about?
The hit Netflix show made headlines after the new season dropped at the beginning of this year. The show follows the story of a single mother trying to give her kids (Ginny and Austin) a better life in Wells-bury England where Ginny met her first friend Maxine in English and was part of their group MAN now they go by MANG.
Why watch it?
Why watch Ginny and Georgia? Ginny and Georgia shows the close bonds between mothers and daughters and how even though Ginny is a teenager she still has a good relationship, if not a better relationship, with her mum Georgia. The show re-enacts how popularity isn’t always good and having a good group of friends is the foundation of school life. It captures the highs and lows of Ginny’s friendships and the betrayals that drive them apart. It’s gripping and relatable, what’s not to love?
Which characters might appeal to you?
Obviously Ginny and Georgia- you may like them because of how they carry the show and Georgia’s humour and her past You may also like Ellen, as she’s your typical old school mum or Georgia who’s a cool, young mum. Another successful character is Marcus because of his personality and humour. He’s a typical teenager with a deaf dad making people laugh with his dad jokes.
So, if you like ‘Never Have I Ever’, ‘Gilmore Girls’, ‘Euphoria’ and ‘Good Girl’, or like shows about friendships between teens and drama that explores mental health issues, you will probably enjoy watching ‘Ginny and Georgia’. Treat yourself to something new this summer!
