Are you a music-lover, with no plans for the upcoming April holidays? The long-awaited music festival is back, so why not meet up with a few friends and watch some of your favourite artists live on TV – unless you somehow magically grabbed tickets to see it in person…
What is Coachella?
The iconic annual music and arts festival is returning and will be taking place over two weekends, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, with the festival kicking off on Friday 11th April. Many of today’s most-loved singers and bands, such as Charli XCX, beabadoobee, ENHYPEN and Sam Fender will be delivering electric performances for a day full of passion, thrill and anticipation. Coachella can evoke many positive emotions, from getting goosebumps before your favourite artist’s performance, to feeling a sense of connection with other like-minded fans.
How are the two weekends structured?
The first weekend commences on Friday 11th April, to Sunday 13th April, and the second weekend follows consecutively on Friday 18th April to Sunday 20th April.
There’s so many artists – How will they all perform?
Coachella features several stages in order to allow performances to occur at the same time, due to the high number of artists attending. Performance durations may vary depending on the artists, whether they are headliners, who may typically perform for 1.5 hours, or second-liners, who may get a maximum of 45 minutes, therefore in order for the day to run smoothly, performances at the same time are necessary – in separate areas of course!
There are 8 stages in total, including:
- The main Coachella Stage: typically where the Headliners perform
- Outdoor Theatre: features a mix of genres
- Mojave Tent: mix of genres, often slightly bigger acts than Gobi
- Gobi Tent: focuses on Indie and Electronic music
- Sahara Tent: electronic music and DJs
- Sonora Tent: punk and rock music
- Yuma Tent: techno and house music
- The newly-debuted stage from 2024, Quasar: electronic music, mainly DJs
