A group of talented and ambitious students from Years 10 and 12 have taken their first steps into the world of journalism through their participation in the prestigious Young Reporter Scheme. This exciting initiative offers a unique opportunity for students to earn a short course accreditation while gaining first-hand experience in research, writing, and media reporting.
Over the course of the Spring Term, each student worked to strict deadlines, producing a series of insightful and thought-provoking articles that were published monthly on The Bolton News website. From current affairs to cultural commentary, the articles demonstrated not only the students’ growing confidence but also the remarkable diversity of their voices and ideas.

Soha Pal (Year 12) commented: I really enjoyed taking part in the scheme. It taught me the skills and knowledge required to be a journalist, from deciding on an article topic to meeting deadlines and conducting interviews. I definitely recommend this scheme to anyone aspiring to get a career in this industry.
