Amir Khan may have put an end to his boxing career, but now he is using his experience and expertise to help transform the lives of young, aspiring boxers.
The Amir Khan Academy was established in 2015 by the former Olympic champion, Amir Khan, who was born and raised in Bolton.
The Academy has been in partnership with Round4Round, another boxing gym, for the last three years, aiming to help young people build their self-confidence and discipline.
The Academy was originally created to give young people of all ages “a safe space” to develop their boxing skills, improve their mindsets and stay on a secure path toward a healthy lifestyle.
The ambassador, Amir Khan, has a strong belief in the future stars of tomorrow and hopes that the Academy will “uplift” and “inspire” the students, as well as help them combat social issues such as knife crime, reduce the risk of obesity, and improve education.
The boxing gym is currently located in the Amir Khan Academy on Prince St.
Khan himself frequently visits the Academy, offering assistance and support to students while serving as a source of motivation for the community.
Moreover, the Academy is staffed by professional coaches who have previously worked with Khan throughout his career, such as Ashif Ashik and even Khan’s brother, Haroon Khan.
The Academy ensures that boxing lessons, fitness classes, and mentorship programs are all available to young people attending.
While the Academy provides support to aspiring boxers and athletes, the Amir Khan Foundation also plays a significant role in assisting those in need.
For 2025, Khan launched a Ramadan Appeal, to make a difference to the lives of those suffering from the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and the food poverty in Pakistan.
The Amir Khan Foundation’s Mobile Food Banks provide food packs to families across Pakistan; in places including Punjab, Azad, Jammu and Kashmir.
It is clear that the main objective of both the Academy and Foundation is to empower young people, enabling them to make the most of the available opportunities and progress toward a brighter future.
