On Friday 27th of March, the stage was set at Bolton School for the final night of their joint production “Guys and Dolls”.
Set in 1950s New York City, this colourful musical tells the story of a variety of gamblers, showgirls and gangsters navigating their way through the city.
From start to finish, the performance was packed full of vibrant costumes, show-stopping singing and plenty of jokes, sending the audience into fits of laughter.
Nathan Detroit (Jacob Little) and Sky Masterson (Theodore Jones) sung amazingly throughout the show and truly brought the characters to life.
Miss Adelaide (played by Francesca Michie) and Sarah Brown (played by Eleanor Holland) performed especially well along with. There was so much talent, the roles were double casted. The other set of leading ladies were Amelie Harrison and Amy Lennon who played the roles on Wednesday and Thursday night expertly.
A special mention must go to the backstage team for helping tackle the several set changes and many of the costume changes, considering almost all of the actors had a costume change during the show.
Another honourable mention has to go to the band, comprised of teachers and students, who accompanied the show with such great music all while directly underneath the stage.
This performance also marks a special moment in history, as the very same production took place in Bolton School 31 years ago.
My final comment of appreciation must go to Mr Lovatt (Musical Director), Miss Talbot (Director), Miss Rigby (Choreographer), and Mr Carr (Sound Technician) who made this whole show possible.
I had such a wonderful time watching the performance and I look forward to the December production later this year.
